Adobe Photoshop 2026
The complete 2026 raster editor with the full generative model set switched on.
The desktop catalogue application photographers actually use for volume work, with local storage, the full develop module, and none of the cloud-first behaviour of the mobile variant.
Overview
Lightroom Classic is the version that keeps your files on your own disks. Photographs live in folders you control, the catalogue is a database you can back up and move, and nothing is uploaded anywhere unless you specifically ask for it. For anyone shooting volume work, this remains the only sensible option in the family.
The develop module in this release is the fastest it has been. Masking is GPU accelerated end to end, so subject and sky selections appear almost instantly rather than after a visible pause, and the denoise pass on high ISO raw files has improved to the point where third party denoisers are no longer automatic purchases.
Catalogue performance was the other focus. Libraries above a hundred thousand images open faster, folder scans no longer block the interface, and generating previews for a large import runs in the background without freezing the grid. The database format is unchanged, so existing catalogues upgrade in place.
Tethered shooting, soft proofing, print layout, and the full export plugin architecture are all present. The package includes the current camera and lens profile set, so recent bodies are recognised without a separate profile update.

A dedicated image upscaler that enlarges photographs several times over while rebuilding the detail a plain resize would smear.
The last standalone perpetual release of the photo catalogue and develop application.
A single application that combines noise removal, sharpening, and upscaling into one automatic pass, reading an image to decide what it needs and rebuilding detail rather than smoothing over the problems.
