Adobe Speech to Text for Premiere Pro

The offline language pack that turns dialogue into a searchable transcript inside the timeline, packaged with every supported language model so nothing has to be fetched at the moment you need it.

Version 2.2.5 1.31 GB Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) Updated 6 days ago

Overview

What this release is

Anyone who has cut a long interview knows where the hours go. It is not the edit, it is finding the sentence. This component transcribes the dialogue in a sequence and puts the result in a panel beside the timeline, at which point finding a line becomes a text search instead of a scrub through two hours of footage.

The transcript is not just a reference document, it is an editing surface. Delete a sentence in the text panel and the corresponding range leaves the sequence. Filler word detection finds the verbal padding across every clip and offers to remove the selected instances in a single operation, which on a rambling interview can trim a quarter of the runtime before a single manual cut is made.

Captions flow straight out of the same transcript. Line length, character count, and reading speed are all configurable, the caption track lives on the timeline like any other, and the styling carries into the graphics panel so the look is set once and applied across the whole sequence. Export covers both burned in captions and the sidecar formats platforms expect.

The important part of this particular package is that the models run on the local machine. Every supported language is included in the download rather than streamed on first use, which means transcription works with the network disconnected and nothing about the audio leaves the machine.

Feature set

What you get

Local models

Every supported language is in the package, so transcription runs offline with nothing sent anywhere.

Text based editing

Delete a sentence in the transcript and the matching range leaves the sequence, with the edit undoable like any other.

Filler word removal

Finds verbal padding across every clip in a sequence and strips the selected instances in one pass.

Caption generation

Builds a styled caption track with configurable line length, character count, and reading speed.

Speaker labelling

Separates and names speakers across a multi person interview so the transcript reads sensibly.

Export formats

Burned in captions or the sidecar formats platforms expect, generated from the same transcript.

Changes in this build

What changed

  • Six additional transcription languages added to the offline model set
  • Filler word detection accuracy improved on accented English
  • Faster transcription on machines with a recent processor instruction set
  • Speaker separation improved on recordings with overlapping dialogue
  • Fixed the mismatch between transcript timing and sequences using variable frame rate footage

Questions

Before you start

Does it need the editor installed first?

Yes. This is a component for the host application and will not run on its own.

Is a connection required to transcribe?

No. The models run locally, which is the point of this package.

Which editor versions does it attach to?

Recent releases of the timeline editor. Very old versions use a different transcription path and will not accept it.

How accurate is the transcript?

Clean dialogue transcribes with few corrections needed. Heavy background noise and strong overlap still require manual passes.
