Overview
Mocha tracks surfaces rather than points, and that single design decision is why it succeeds on shots where every point tracker fails. A wall, a phone screen, a road sign, or a face can be tracked through motion blur, partial occlusion, and grain because the tracker follows the plane the texture sits on rather than a handful of high contrast pixels.
The applications are the everyday jobs of post production. Screen replacements, sign removal, beauty work, object removal, and stabilisation all start with a planar track, and the tools that follow, the remove module and the insert module, use that track directly rather than requiring an export step.
The remove module is the one that saves the most time. Give it a track and a mask and it reconstructs the area behind a removed object using surrounding frames, which handles wires, tracking markers, and unwanted people far faster than painting frame by frame.
The package installs as a standalone application and as a plugin for After Effects, Premiere, Resolve, Vegas, and the OFX hosts. Tracks travel between them as data, so a shape tracked in the plugin can be opened in the standalone and back again.
