Overview
Screen recorders split into two groups. There are the broadcast tools built around scenes and sources, and there are the ones you open when you need a clip of something on screen and you need it now. Movavi is firmly in the second group, and it is unusually good at staying out of the way while you work.
Setup is a rectangle on the screen and two toggles. Pick the area, decide whether the microphone and system audio are recording, and press the key. There is no scene tree, no source list, and no audio mixer to configure before the first take, which is exactly right when the recording is a five minute explanation for a colleague.
The part that separates it from the free tools is what happens after you stop. The clip drops into a trimming view where you can cut the dead air at both ends, drop in callouts and arrows, highlight the cursor, and export straight to a common format at a sensible bitrate.
