Overview
Pinnacle Studio Ultimate sits in a useful gap. It is considerably more capable than the free editors, considerably less demanding than the industry packages, and the Ultimate tier includes the effect collections that the lower tiers hold back. For a great deal of everyday editing work that combination is exactly right.
The timeline is unlimited in tracks and behaves the way an editor expects, with proper trim modes, ripple and roll editing, keyframing on essentially every parameter, and nested sequences when a section gets complicated. Multi camera editing supports up to six angles with audio based synchronisation, which turns a two camera interview into a fifteen minute job.
The screen recording module is more capable than its bundled status suggests. It captures a full screen, a window, or a defined region, records system audio and microphone on separate tracks, and includes the cursor highlighting and click indication that tutorial recording needs. Captures land straight on the timeline rather than in a separate file you have to import.
The Ultimate effect library is genuinely large. Motion tracking that attaches text or a blur to a moving subject, colour grading with proper scopes and curve control, chroma key with spill suppression, 360 degree video editing with reframing, and several hundred transitions, filters, and title templates. Third party effect packages from the well known vendors are included in this tier.
This build carries every bundled content pack, the full effect library, and the screen capture module. Nothing is held back behind an additional content download after installation.
