Ant Download Manager

A download accelerator that also pulls video and audio straight out of a browser tab, in the full Pro configuration with every stream capture module and the segment limit lifted.

Version 2.17.7.96580 38.2 MB Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) Updated 3 days ago

Overview

What this release is

Ant Download Manager sits in the small group of accelerators that people actually keep installed after the first week. It splits a file into segments, opens parallel connections, and reassembles the result, which on a connection that throttles per stream can be the difference between a forty minute wait and a five minute one. The scheduler handles queues overnight and resumes anything that dropped without asking.

The reason most people install it, though, is the browser side. The extension hooks into the page and lists every media stream it can see, including segmented playlists that a plain right click will not save. Pick the quality, pick the container, and the program stitches the segments into a single file with the audio track already muxed in.

Site coverage is broad and updated often. Ordinary hosting, video platforms, adaptive streams, and the file lockers that insist on their own countdown page are all handled, and the built in browser can walk through a redirect chain that would otherwise stop a plain downloader dead.

This build is the Pro configuration with nothing held back. The premium account handlers, the unlimited segment count, the batch grabber, and the media conversion step are all present, and the program never checks a licence server during use.

Feature set

What you get

Segmented transfer

Up to thirty two parallel connections per file with automatic reassembly and a resume that survives a dropped link.

Media capture

Detects video and audio streams inside a page, including adaptive playlists, and offers every available quality.

Browser integration

Extensions for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Opera that take over downloads without breaking the normal save dialogue.

Batch grabber

Feed it a page or a list and it queues every matching link, with filters on extension and file size.

Scheduler

Queue overnight, throttle during working hours, and shut the machine down when the queue empties.

Format handling

Muxes separate video and audio streams into one container and converts to common formats after the transfer.

Changes in this build

What changed

  • Updated stream handlers for several video platforms that changed their playlist format
  • Faster segment merge on files above 10 GB
  • Browser extension rewritten for the current manifest version
  • Added dark theme to the main queue window and the progress dialogue
  • Fixed the stall that happened when a mirror returned a partial range response

Installation

How to install it

  1. Close every browser window before running setup, otherwise the extension will not register.
  2. Extract the archive to a short path and run the installer as administrator.
  3. Allow the extension when the browser prompts for it on the next launch.
  4. Open the settings panel and set the download folder before queueing anything, since the default sits on the system drive.
  5. Block the executable in your firewall if you prefer the licence state to stay exactly where it is.

Questions

Before you start

Does it replace the browser download panel?

It intercepts downloads once the extension is active. The browser panel stays available if you disable interception for a given site.

Can it grab streams that are split into segments?

Yes. It reads the playlist, pulls every segment, and merges them into a single playable file.

Is there a limit on file size?

No practical limit. Very large transfers are handled in segments and resumed if the connection drops.

Why does antivirus flag the installer?

The setup patches its own binaries, which heuristic scanners treat as suspicious regardless of what the program does afterwards.
