Autodesk AutoCAD 2027
The drafting application that the DWG format was built around.
The modelling, animation, and rendering package behind a large share of game art, product visualisation, and motion work, in its 2027 release with the modifier stack, the particle systems, and Arnold rendering included.
Overview
3ds Max is a generalist in a field of specialists. It models, it animates, it simulates, and it renders, and it does all of them well enough that a large part of the game, product, and archviz world runs entirely inside it. The modifier stack is the reason: every operation on an object stays live and reorderable, so a model is a recipe rather than a final state.
For hard surface and environment work the toolset is deep. Polygon modelling, splines, and the full set of deformers cover manufactured shapes and organic ones alike, and the retopology tools clean up dense scanned or sculpted meshes into geometry that animates. Game artists in particular have kept the program central for exactly this range.
Animation and simulation round out the package. Character rigging, the particle systems, cloth, and fluid simulation are all present, and the scene handling copes with the heavy asset counts that a real production scene reaches. Arnold ships as the bundled renderer, with support for the other major engines as plugins.
This build installs the complete application with the bundled content and the Arnold renderer, and applies its licensing before first launch so it opens without a sign in or a licence server to configure.
Feature set
Every operation stays live and reorderable, so a model can be revised at any stage without starting over.
A deep hard surface and organic toolset covering manufactured and natural forms alike.
Clean animatable geometry generated from dense scanned or sculpted meshes.
Particle systems, cloth, and fluids for effects work inside the same scene.
The bundled production renderer, with the other major engines available as plugins.
Copes with the heavy asset counts of a real production environment without stalling.

Questions
Yes, and they upgrade on open. Saving makes them unreadable to older versions, so keep copies.
Yes. Arnold ships with the application. The other major engines install as plugins.
It runs on consumer cards, but a certified workstation card avoids viewport artefacts in heavy scenes.
It stages several gigabytes of content before the installation itself begins. An SSD helps considerably.
