Autodesk AutoCAD 2027
The drafting application that the DWG format was built around.
The architecture focused edition of the drafting standard, adding walls, doors, windows, and schedules that behave as real building objects on top of the full AutoCAD toolset, with the specialised library included.
Overview
AutoCAD Architecture is the version of AutoCAD for people who draw buildings. It keeps everything the standard program does and adds a layer of architectural intelligence on top: a wall is a wall rather than two parallel lines, a door knows the wall it sits in and cuts the opening automatically, and a change to one is reflected everywhere it appears. For drafting focused architectural work it removes an enormous amount of repetitive line work.
The object styles are the heart of it. Walls, doors, windows, stairs, and railings are drawn from configurable styles that carry their own construction and display rules, so a plan, a section, and an elevation of the same element stay consistent because they are views of one object rather than three separate drawings maintained by hand.
Schedules and tags come from the same objects. A door schedule, a room finish schedule, or a window count is generated from the model and updates when the drawing changes, which removes the classic problem of a schedule that no longer matches the plan it describes.
Underneath it all sits the full standard AutoCAD, so DWG remains the native format and everything a general drafter expects is present. This installs the architectural content library along with the application, and it opens without a licence server to configure.

Questions
Yes. It reads and writes DWG natively, and architectural objects appear as blocks in plain AutoCAD.
No. This is drafting with architectural objects. Revit is a full building information model. They suit different workflows.
Yes. The architectural content installs with the application rather than as a separate download.
