Autodesk AutoCAD 2027
The drafting application that the DWG format was built around.
The drafting focused build of the industry standard drawing application, carrying the same file format and drawing tools as the full version without the modelling and customisation layers.
Overview
For a great many people, drafting is the whole job. Floor plans, elevations, wiring layouts, site drawings, and shop details are two dimensional documents, and every modelling feature in the full application is weight that never gets used. This build is the same program with those layers removed, which makes it faster to install, quicker to start, and considerably lighter on hardware.
The file format is the important part. Drawings written here open in the full application and everywhere else in the industry without a conversion step, external references behave identically, and layer standards, blocks, and title block templates from an existing office library work as they always did. Nothing about collaborating with a consultant changes.
The drafting tool set is complete. Full object snapping, constraints, dynamic blocks, associative arrays, annotative scaling, dimension styles, layouts with multiple viewports, tables, fields, and the complete plotting and publishing path are present. The command line remains the fastest way to work and every alias behaves the way muscle memory expects.
What is absent is the three dimensional modelling workspace, the programming interfaces for custom applications, and the specialised industry toolsets. If the work is drawings rather than models, none of that is missed, and the smaller footprint is a genuine advantage on ordinary office hardware.
Feature set
Drawings open in the full application and across the industry with no conversion step in either direction.
Constraints, dynamic blocks, associative arrays, annotative scaling, and the full dimension style system.
Multiple viewports per sheet with the complete plot style, publishing, and batch output path.
Reference other drawings, images, and underlays with the same behaviour as the full application.
Every alias and shortcut works as expected, which keeps experienced drafters at full speed.
Faster install, quicker start, and lower hardware demands than the full modelling capable version.

Questions
Three dimensional modelling, the programming interfaces for custom applications, and the specialised industry toolsets.
Yes, and it displays and plots them. It just cannot create or edit the solid modelling parts.
Yes. Blocks, layer standards, plot styles, and title block templates all work unchanged.
Noticeably. Installation is smaller and startup is quicker, which matters on ordinary office machines.
