Overview

What this release is

This is the client written by the people who wrote the protocol, and it has stayed small and undemanding through every version. The installed program is a few megabytes, it idles on almost no memory even while seeding a large number of items, and it runs happily in the background on a machine that is doing something else entirely.

The queue management is what separates it from the minimal clients. Bandwidth limits per torrent and globally, scheduling so transfers run at particular hours, seeding ratio rules that stop an item when a target is reached, and priority ordering within a torrent so the files you want arrive first.

The pro tier removes the advert panel that occupies a corner of the free interface and adds the media features. Files play inside the client while they are still transferring, the conversion tool re-encodes finished downloads for a specific device, and the malware scanner checks completed files automatically.

Remote access is included as well. Control the client from a browser on another machine or from a phone, adding, pausing, and prioritising items without a connection to the machine's desktop, which matters if the client runs on a box that lives somewhere out of the way.

Installation

How to install it

1. Extract the archive to any convenient folder.
2. Run setup as administrator and deselect any optional components offered during installation.
3. Apply the included licensing step before the first launch.
4. Set the download folder and the global bandwidth limits in preferences before adding items.
5. Open the client and confirm no advert panel appears in the interface.
