What this release is

Canva took the parts of design work that repeat constantly, social posts, presentations, flyers, thumbnails, and made them a template selection rather than a layout exercise. The desktop client is the same environment as the browser version but with proper window handling, local font access, and drag and drop from the file system.

The template library is the reason for the program's reach. Thousands of layouts across every common output size, each editable down to the individual element, means a usable result exists before any design decision has been made. For anyone producing volume rather than one off pieces, that is the whole value.

The brand tools keep output consistent. Colours, fonts, and logos are defined once and applied across every design, and the resize function reflows a finished layout into a different aspect ratio without rebuilding it, which turns one post into a set covering every platform.

The desktop client is noticeably faster than the browser for heavy documents. Long presentations scroll smoothly, exports run locally rather than queueing, and local fonts installed on the machine appear in the picker alongside the built in library.

Installation

How to install it

Extract the archive to any convenient folder.
Run the installer as administrator. Setup is quick and does not need real time protection disabled.
Choose whether to start the client with Windows during setup.
Open the application and work in the local document mode rather than through an account.
If the window opens at the wrong size, reset the layout from the view menu.

Is this different from the browser version?

It is the same environment with proper window handling, local font access, and faster export.

Does it work without a connection?

Local editing works. Anything pulling from the online library needs connectivity.

Can it export print ready files?

Yes, including bleed and crop marks on the print sizes.

Why do my installed fonts not appear?

Restart the client after installing a font family, or reset the font cache from preferences.
