Overview

What this release is

Archicad models a building and draws it at the same time. The walls, slabs, roofs, and openings are real construction elements that know what they are, and every plan, section, elevation, and schedule is a view onto that single model. Move a window and it moves in every drawing at once, which is the argument the whole discipline made when it moved away from drawing lines by hand.

The program is known for staying out of the architect's way more than its rivals do. The interface is arranged around how a building is actually designed rather than around the software's internal structure, so the path from an idea to a modelled element is short, and the drawing output looks like architecture rather than like a database export. For firms that value the drawing as much as the model, that character matters.

Coordination with the rest of a project happens through open exchange. The current IFC support lets the model be shared with the structural and services teams working in other applications, and the changes coming back are managed rather than merged blindly. The teamwork feature lets several architects work in one model at once with each element checked out individually.

This build installs the complete object library, which is a large part of the download and the reason the program is usable immediately rather than after weeks of building content. The licensing step is applied before the first launch, and it runs without a licence server.

Installation

How to install it

Free at least 20 GB before starting. The unpack stage needs substantial temporary space.
Disable real time protection and extract the archive to a short path.
Run the installer as administrator and select the library content for your region.
Do not open the program until the included licensing step has been applied.
Start Archicad and confirm it opens to the project chooser without a sign in prompt.
