Marvelous Designer Enterprise

Garment creation through real pattern drafting and physical cloth simulation, producing 3D clothing that drapes correctly because it was constructed the way real clothing is.

Version 2026.0.315 1.86 GB Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) Updated 5 days ago

Overview

What this release is

Marvelous Designer approaches 3D clothing the way a tailor does. You draft flat pattern pieces, sew them together along their seams, and let the simulation drape the result over a body. Nothing is sculpted, nothing is approximated, and the folds fall where they fall because the geometry and the fabric behaviour say they should. That is why clothing made here looks right in a way that modelled clothing rarely does.

The pattern tools are proper drafting tools. Pieces are drawn as flat shapes with darts, pleats, gathers, and notches, seam allowances are handled, and symmetry is maintained across the centre line automatically. Anyone who has drafted a real garment will recognise the workflow immediately, and anyone who has not can start from the substantial library of included patterns.

The fabric model covers the properties that actually determine how cloth behaves: weight, stretch in both directions, bending resistance, friction, and thickness. Preset materials cover the common textiles and each is adjustable, so the difference between a stiff cotton and a heavy silk is a set of numbers rather than a different technique. Layered garments interact correctly, so a jacket sits over a shirt rather than through it.

Simulation runs live while you work. Drag a seam and the garment redrapes immediately. Change a fabric weight and the fall changes as you watch. Animated simulation handles a moving character, with collision against the body and against the garment's own layers, and the result exports as a cached sequence for use in a render.

The Enterprise configuration includes the full feature set with no restrictions on export format, polygon count, or simulation resolution, plus the extended pattern and fabric libraries and the pipeline tools for moving garments between the applications that a studio actually uses.

Feature set

What you get

Real pattern drafting

Flat pieces with darts, pleats, gathers, and seam allowances, sewn along seams the way a garment is actually built.

Physical fabric model

Weight, two way stretch, bending, friction, and thickness driving how each material falls.

Live simulation

The garment redrapes immediately as seams, patterns, or fabric properties change.

Animated draping

Simulation against a moving character with body and self collision, exported as a cached sequence.

Layered garments

Multiple pieces interacting correctly so outerwear sits over what is underneath it.

Enterprise configuration

No export, polygon, or resolution restrictions, with the extended libraries and pipeline tools included.

Changes in this build

What changed

  • Faster simulation on high resolution garments through improved solver threading
  • Fabric library extended with additional knit and technical textile presets
  • Improved retopology output with cleaner quad flow on complex garments
  • Better handling of very fine detail such as topstitching and trims
  • Fixed the collision failure that could occur on fast character motion

Installation

How to install it

  1. Disable real time protection before extracting and keep it off through the configuration step.
  2. Extract to a short path on a drive with at least 6 GB free.
  3. Run the installer as administrator and include the extended libraries.
  4. Apply the included configuration step before the first launch.
  5. Open the application, confirm the export options carry no restrictions, and block outbound access for the executable.

Questions

Before you start

Do I need to know pattern drafting?

It helps considerably, but the included pattern library gives you working garments to modify rather than starting from a blank sheet.

Does it export to the main 3D applications?

Yes, through the standard mesh and cache formats, with the option to retopologise before export.

Can it simulate on an animated character?

Yes. Import the animated body, run the simulation against it, and export the cached result.

What does the Enterprise configuration add?

It removes the export, polygon, and resolution limits of the lower tiers and includes the extended libraries and pipeline tools.
