Overview

What this release is

This is a full mechanical engineering package rather than a general modelling tool, and the parametric history tree is the reason it is used for real products. Every feature carries the intent behind it, so changing a hole diameter halfway down a two hundred feature part propagates correctly through everything that referenced it, including the assembly it sits inside and the production drawing generated from it.

Assembly handling scales to genuinely large products. Components load with a lightweight representation until they are needed, so a machine with tens of thousands of parts opens without exhausting memory, and simplified representations let a designer work on one subsystem while the rest stays present for context. Interference checking, mechanism motion, and cable and piping routing all run against the full assembly.

The surfacing and freeform tools sit alongside the parametric core rather than in a separate application. Class A surfaces can be built with curvature continuity where the appearance matters, and the subdivision modelling tool handles organic shapes that would be miserable to define parametrically, with the result folded back into the same part as a solid feature.

Simulation is included at the level most design work needs. Structural, thermal, and modal analysis run directly on the part or assembly using the real geometry rather than a simplified export, which means a design change and a fresh result are minutes apart. The generative design module produces optimised geometry against load cases and manufacturing constraints, and the additive manufacturing tools prepare parts with lattice structures and build tray layout.

Installation

How to install it

  1. Disable real time protection before extracting, since the licence service component is replaced.
  2. Extract to a short path on a drive with at least 30 GB free, since the archive expands considerably.
  3. Run setup as administrator and choose the simple installation rather than the network deployment option.
  4. Install the licence service component when offered, then let setup finish before opening anything.
  5. Install the help centre component from the same package if you want local documentation rather than online lookup.

Before you start

Are the optional modules included?

Yes. Simulation, generative design, additive manufacturing, and the advanced surfacing modules are all present.

Will it run on a gaming graphics card?

It runs, but viewport behaviour on large assemblies is noticeably better on a certified workstation card with the professional driver.

Do models from other CAD systems import?

The standard neutral formats import, and direct translators for several other systems are included in this package.

Why is the download so large?

It includes the full application, every optional module, and the local help centre rather than a downloader stub.
