Overview
Rhino occupies a corner of the modelling world that nothing else covers as cleanly. It builds shapes from NURBS surfaces rather than polygon meshes, which means a curve is a real mathematical curve and a surface holds its precision no matter how far you zoom in. For anyone machining a part, casting a ring, or fairing a hull, that accuracy is the entire reason the program exists.
The interface is deliberately plain and the command line drives everything, which reads as dated at first glance and turns out to be the fastest way to work once the muscle memory sets in. Every tool has a typed name, every option is visible while a command runs, and the same command works identically whether it was reached from a toolbar, a menu, or the keyboard.
