Overview

What this release is

This build takes on both of the reasons a machine cannot run Windows 11. The installer checks that turn away hardware without a TPM module, without Secure Boot, or with an unsupported processor are bypassed at setup, and the bundled apps and background services that make the standard release heavy have been stripped out, so what installs is both allowed onto the machine and light enough for it to run.

The combination is what makes it useful. Bypassing the checks alone still leaves a heavy system that a modest machine struggles with, and trimming alone does nothing for hardware the installer refuses outright. Together they turn an older or low powered computer into one that runs the current release usably, keeping the modern interface and the current security core while dropping the weight around it.

As with any trimmed build, the removals are deliberate and not easily reversed. The Store, several bundled apps, and various optional components are gone by design, which suits a machine with a defined purpose rather than a general computer that might need anything later. Adding the removed parts back is more trouble than reinstalling the standard image.

Underneath, it is the current 25H2 release, so the core is current even though the surface is trimmed. The image is bootable, writes to a USB stick with any imaging tool, and the activation step is applied so the desktop is ready once it loads.

Installation

How to install it

Write the ISO to an 8 GB or larger USB stick with a tool that supports GPT and MBR targets.
Back up the target drive completely. A clean install removes existing partitions on it.
Boot from the stick and choose Custom installation rather than Upgrade.
Be aware that removed components cannot easily be added back, so confirm the machine's job suits a trimmed build.
After first boot, confirm the activation state in system properties.
