Overview

What this release is

AIDA64 tells you what is actually inside a machine, in a level of detail nothing else matches. Every component is identified down to the chip, including the memory module manufacturer and timings, the exact storage controller, the monitor model and its supported modes, and the firmware versions of things you did not know had firmware. When a driver problem depends on knowing precisely which revision of a component you have, this is how you find out.

Sensor monitoring covers every temperature, voltage, fan speed, clock rate, and power figure the hardware exposes, updated live and loggable to file over time. Readings can be sent to a desktop panel, to a secondary display, or to an external device, which is how the enthusiast community builds monitoring dashboards. Alerts trigger on a threshold with an action attached.

The benchmark suite covers processor arithmetic, memory bandwidth and latency, storage throughput, and the traditional integer and floating point workloads, with reference results from other hardware included for comparison. It is useful less for the score itself than for spotting when a machine is performing well below what its components should deliver.

The stability testing is what most people install it for after a hardware change. It loads the processor, the memory, the cache, the storage, and the graphics adapter individually or together, while watching the sensors, and stops with a report if anything faults or throttles. An hour of this after a new build or an overclock is the standard verification.

This package includes all four editions, so beyond the desktop tools you also get the network audit functions that inventory every machine on a network into a single report, the software licence auditing, and the report generation in the formats an asset management system expects.

Installation

How to install it

Turn off real time protection before extracting and keep it off through the configuration step.
Extract the archive to a short path, or use the portable folder if you prefer nothing installed.
Run the setup executable as administrator. Low level sensor access requires it.
Apply the included configuration step before opening the program.
Open it once, confirm all editions are available in the menu, and let the first hardware scan finish before using the benchmarks.

Before you start

Is the stress test safe to run?

It pushes hardware to its limits deliberately. On a machine with adequate cooling it is fine, and it stops itself if temperatures reach the configured threshold.

Why does it need administrator rights?

Low level sensor and hardware access is not available to a standard user account. Without it, much of the detail is missing.

Can readings be sent to an external display?

Yes. Sensor output can be pushed to a secondary display or a connected device, which is how monitoring panels are built.

Does the network audit need agents installed?

No. It queries machines remotely using the built in Windows management interfaces given appropriate credentials.
