Overview

What this release is

Windows Update is conservative about drivers, and manufacturer sites are a maze. Driver Booster sits between the two, scanning installed hardware and matching it against a large database of current drivers, including the chipset and peripheral components that Windows usually leaves at whatever shipped with the machine.

The safety layer is what makes it worth using. A restore point is created before any installation, every replaced driver is backed up individually, and a single failed device can be rolled back without undoing the rest of the session. Driver updating goes wrong occasionally, and this is what makes that recoverable.

Beyond drivers, it repairs the small system faults that follow a bad update, including missing audio endpoints, network adapters that stop resolving, and resolution problems after a graphics driver replacement. Game components such as runtime redistributables are handled from the same panel.

The Pro tier removes the update limits and download throttling of the free version, enables automatic scheduled scanning, and unlocks the full database rather than a subset. This build has that tier enabled from first launch.

Installation

How to install it

Extract the archive with real time protection disabled.
Run the setup executable as administrator and decline any bundled extras offered during setup.
Do not open the program before applying the included registration step.
Start the program and confirm the Pro state is shown in the interface.
Run the first scan and update graphics drivers separately from everything else so a rollback is simple.

Before you start

Should every driver be updated at once?

No. Update graphics drivers on their own so a rollback is straightforward if display problems appear.

Does it replace manufacturer drivers?

Sometimes. On laptops, keep the manufacturer version for power management and card reader components.

Where are the backups kept?
