What this release is

AnyDesk earned its reputation on latency. The codec it uses was written specifically for screen content rather than adapted from video compression, and the difference shows the moment you try to work over a connection that would make other remote tools unusable. Dragging a window across a remote desktop on a mobile tether feels close to local, which is not something most competitors manage.

The program is a single small executable that can run without installing anything, which makes it the obvious choice for helping someone else fix a machine. They download it, run it, read you a number, and you are connected. When you do install it, the unattended access option turns the machine into something you can reach at any time with a stored key.

Beyond the screen itself there is a proper file transfer panel with a two sided browser, clipboard synchronisation that handles files as well as text, remote printing that sends the job to your local printer, and a session recorder that writes a video of everything that happened for anyone who needs an audit trail.

This configuration removes the restrictions that the free tier imposes. Sessions do not end after a fixed period, the address book holds an unlimited number of entries, multiple concurrent sessions are allowed, and the commercial use notice that interrupts long sessions never appears.

The security model is unchanged. Connections are end to end encrypted, unattended access requires a password you set yourself, and the permission profile controls exactly what a connected party can do, down to whether they can use the clipboard.

Installation

How to install it

Extract the archive to any folder. The executable runs from wherever you put it.
Run it once without installing if you only need a single session.
For permanent access, choose the install option from the program menu and set an unattended access password.
Copy the included licence file into the program data folder before the first launch so the professional state is picked up.
Open the security page and set the permission profile before leaving the machine reachable.

Before you start

Does the commercial use notice still appear?

No. The licensed configuration removes it, along with the timed session cutoff.

Can it run without being installed?

Yes. That is the usual way to use it for one off support, since the other party only has to run the file.

Is the connection encrypted?

Yes, end to end, and unattended access additionally requires the password you set on the machine.

Why does the remote screen look soft on a slow line?

The codec drops detail first and restores it once the picture stops moving. It is a deliberate trade to keep the session responsive.
