WinRAR Professional
The archiver that half the internet is packed with, with recovery records, solid compression, and multi-part splitting, licensed so the reminder window never appears again.
The full protection suite with the firewall, ransomware shield, sandbox, and web filtering all switched on, running at the paid tier without the upgrade prompts.
Overview
The premium tier is where the components that actually matter live. The free version covers file and behaviour scanning, but the firewall, the ransomware shield with protected folders, the sandbox, and the network inspector are all paid features, and this build enables the full set from the first launch.
The ransomware shield is the component most worth having. It watches a defined list of folders and blocks any process that has not been explicitly approved from modifying files inside them, which stops the encryption pass before it gets past the first few documents rather than reporting it afterwards.
The sandbox is the second reason people move up a tier. Any executable can be launched in an isolated container where it can write, install, and register whatever it wants without touching the real system, and the container is discarded on close. For examining an unknown file it is far safer than the alternative.
The interface has been cleaned up considerably over the last few releases. Scans run quietly, the notification stream is far less intrusive than it used to be, and the upgrade banners that dominated the free version are absent at this tier.
Feature set
Protected folders that only approved processes can write to, blocking an encryption pass at the first file.
Run an unknown executable inside an isolated container that is discarded when it closes.
Per application network rules with profiles that switch automatically between trusted and public networks.
Blocks known malicious hosts and phishing pages at the connection level rather than in the browser.
Scans the local network for exposed devices, default passwords, and open ports.
Scans schedule themselves around idle time and the notification stream stays out of the way.
