Driver Easy Professional

Scans the machine for outdated and missing drivers and installs the correct versions in one pass, with the download speed limit and bulk installation unlocked.

Version 7.1.5.5744 12 MB Windows 7 / 8 / 10 / 11 (64-bit) Updated 4 days ago

Overview

What this release is

Driver hunting is the most tedious part of setting up a machine, particularly a laptop where half the components are made by companies whose names never appear on the case. Driver Easy identifies every device by its hardware identifier, matches it against a catalogue, and fetches the correct package without the guessing that manual searching involves.

The professional tier removes the two limits that make the free version painful. Downloads run at full speed rather than being throttled, and drivers install in bulk rather than one at a time with a wait between each. On a fresh installation with twenty missing drivers, that difference is the entire afternoon.

The restore point and backup handling is the part worth understanding. Before any driver is replaced, the existing one is backed up and a system restore point is created, so a driver that turns out to be worse than what it replaced can be rolled back from inside the program rather than through device manager.

The offline scan is the genuinely useful feature. Run it on a machine with no network driver, save the resulting file, fetch the packages from a working machine, and install them on the first. That single workflow is why the program stays installed on repair technicians' USB drives.

Feature set

What you get

Hardware identification

Matches every device by its hardware identifier rather than guessing from the model name.

Full speed downloads

The throttling applied at the free tier is removed, which changes a long wait into a short one.

Bulk installation

Install every outdated driver in one pass instead of individually with a wait between each.

Backup and restore

Existing drivers are backed up and a restore point created before anything is replaced.

Offline scan

Produces a scan file for a machine with no network driver, so the packages can be fetched elsewhere.

Scheduled checks

Periodic scans that report what is behind without installing anything until approved.

Changes in this build

What changed

  • Driver catalogue expanded across recent graphics and chipset releases
  • Faster scanning on machines with many attached peripherals
  • Backup restore reworked to handle multiple versions of the same driver
  • Offline scan file format updated for newer hardware identifiers
  • Fixed the installation failure on drivers requiring a staged restart

Installation

How to install it

  1. Extract the archive to any convenient folder.
  2. Run setup as administrator. The installation itself takes under a minute.
  3. Apply the included licensing step before the first scan.
  4. Create a restore point manually before the first bulk installation, as an extra safety margin.
  5. Restart after the first pass so newly installed drivers initialise cleanly.

Questions

Before you start

Is it safe to update every driver at once?

Usually, but leave the graphics driver until last and install it separately so a problem is easy to identify.

Can a bad driver be rolled back?

Yes, from the backup section inside the program or from the restore point it creates.

Does it work without a connection?

Scanning does. Downloading does not, which is what the offline scan workflow is for.

Why does it still list a driver as outdated after installing?

Restart the machine. The catalogue reads the loaded driver, not the staged one.
