Glary Utilities Pro

A maintenance suite gathering registry cleaning, startup control, disk analysis, privacy wiping, and file recovery into one window, with the Pro automation and real time modules unlocked.

Version 6.46.0.50 38 MB Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) Updated 6 days ago

Overview

What this release is

The value of a suite like this is not any individual tool, most of which exist elsewhere, but having thirty of them in one consistent window with a one click routine that runs the sensible ones together. For anyone maintaining machines for other people that saves a great deal of clicking, and the report at the end is clear enough to show someone what was actually done.

The cleanup side handles temporary files, browser caches, broken shortcuts, invalid registry entries, and leftover folders from uninstalled programs. It is conservative by default, which matters because aggressive registry cleaners cause more problems than they solve, and everything it removes goes into a restore point that can be rolled back if a program stops behaving afterwards.

Startup management is where most real speed improvements come from, and the implementation here is better than the built in tool. Each entry shows what it is, which vendor it belongs to, how much it delays boot, and what proportion of other users keep it enabled. Delayed start is available as a middle option so something needed occasionally does not have to be removed entirely to stop it slowing the login.

The Pro features add automation and the resident modules. Maintenance runs on a schedule without asking, the disk defragmenter and duplicate finder run in the background during idle time, and a real time optimiser watches memory use and trims it when a game or heavy application starts. The file recovery, secure deletion, and encryption tools bundled alongside cover the occasional jobs that would otherwise need separate downloads.

Feature set

What you get

One click maintenance

Runs the sensible cleanup and repair modules together and produces a plain report of what was changed.

Startup manager

Per entry boot delay figures, vendor identification, and a delayed start option instead of an all or nothing removal.

Conservative cleaning

Registry and file cleanup that errs toward safety, with a restore point written before anything is removed.

Scheduled automation

Maintenance tasks run unattended on a schedule, with idle time defragmentation and duplicate scanning.

Privacy tools

Browser trace cleaning, secure file deletion that overwrites rather than unlinks, and file encryption for sensitive documents.

Recovery tools

Undelete for recently removed files plus a repair module for damaged shortcuts and broken file associations.

Changes in this build

What changed

  • Cleanup engine updated for current browser cache locations
  • Startup manager gained accurate boot delay measurement per entry
  • Scheduled maintenance now reports results without interrupting whatever is running
  • Duplicate finder switched to content hashing rather than name and size matching
  • Fixed the uninstall module that failed to remove certain packaged applications

Installation

How to install it

  1. Extract the archive to any folder. The package is small and installs quickly.
  2. Run the installer as administrator so the scheduled maintenance tasks can be registered.
  3. Decline the browser toolbar and the bundled offers on the custom install screen if you do not want them.
  4. Create a restore point before the first cleanup run, even though the tool writes one itself.
  5. Skip the licence prompt on first launch. The Pro modules are already present in the tool list.

Questions

Before you start

Is registry cleaning safe?

The default profile is conservative and a restore point is written first. Leaving the aggressive options off is still the sensible approach.

Are the Pro modules unlocked?

Yes. Scheduled automation, the resident optimiser, and the background maintenance tools are all available.

Will it actually speed up an old machine?

The startup manager usually makes the visible difference. Cleanup mostly recovers disk space rather than speed.

Does it run in the background constantly?

Only if the resident modules are enabled. They can be switched off entirely while keeping the manual tools.
