BLUESYSTEM

iTop VPN

A connection tool with servers grouped by purpose rather than by country alone, plus split tunnelling, a kill switch, and the bandwidth cap of the free tier lifted entirely.

Version 7.6.0.6921 94 MB Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) Updated 4 days ago

Overview

What this release is

The free version of this tool is genuinely usable, which is unusual, but it comes with a daily data allowance that runs out quickly on anything except light browsing. This build lifts that ceiling and unlocks the full server list, which is the difference between a tool used occasionally and one left running permanently.

Server organisation is the practical strength here. Rather than a flat country list, servers are grouped by what people actually use them for, with sets tuned for streaming services, for gaming latency, and for general browsing. The streaming groups are maintained against the services that actively block connections, so a server that stops working gets rotated out rather than sitting in the list failing silently.

The privacy features are the standard set implemented competently. Split tunnelling decides per application whether traffic goes through the connection or straight out, which matters when a banking application refuses to work through a tunnel. The kill switch drops all traffic if the connection fails rather than quietly falling back to the open connection, and there is a browser data cleaning tool bundled alongside.

Protocol handling is automatic by default and picks between the available options based on the network it finds itself on, which helps on restrictive networks where one protocol is blocked and another passes. Manual selection is available for anyone who wants it, along with a per server latency test so the fastest option can be picked deliberately rather than trusted to the automatic choice.

Feature set

What you get

Purpose grouped servers

Server sets organised by intended use, with the streaming groups actively maintained against services that block connections.

Split tunnelling

Decide per application whether traffic routes through the connection or straight out to the local network.

Kill switch

Drops all traffic if the connection fails rather than silently reverting to the unprotected route.

Protocol selection

Automatic protocol choice based on the network in use, with manual override and a per server latency test.

Browser cleaning

Bundled tool for clearing browsing traces, cached credentials, and tracking data on a schedule.

No bandwidth ceiling

The daily data allowance of the free tier is removed, along with the restricted server list.

Changes in this build

What changed

  • Server list refreshed with additional locations in the streaming and gaming groups
  • Connection time reduced on the automatic protocol path
  • Split tunnelling rules now survive an application update changing its path
  • Kill switch rebuilt at the driver level for a faster cut on connection loss
  • Fixed the reconnect loop on networks that change their gateway frequently

Installation

How to install it

  1. Disable real time protection during extraction, since the network driver component is repacked.
  2. Extract to a short path and run the installer as administrator so the virtual adapter can be registered.
  3. Approve the driver installation prompt when it appears, otherwise the connection will fail on first use.
  4. Skip the account prompt on launch. The unlocked server list is already present in the main window.
  5. Block the updater helper in the firewall if you want the tier state to remain as installed.

Questions

Before you start

Is the data allowance really removed?

Yes. The daily cap of the free tier does not apply and the full server list is selectable.

Why does a driver need installing?

The virtual network adapter and the kill switch both work at the driver level. Without it neither functions.

Does it slow the connection down?

All tools of this type add some overhead. Picking a nearby server with the latency test keeps the loss small.

Can it run at system start?

Yes, and there is an option to connect automatically on untrusted networks while staying off at home.
