Overview

What this release is

The Windows taskbar has not really changed in a decade, and for people who spend all day in front of it the itch to replace it eventually wins. This is the most complete of the dock replacements, in that it does not simply draw a bar of icons at the bottom of the screen but replaces the whole desktop shell arrangement with a dock, a status strip, and a set of window behaviours to match.

The dock itself is the obvious part. Icons magnify under the pointer, running applications show an indicator, windows minimise into the dock with a genie style animation, and stacks expand into a fan or a grid when clicked. Every element of it is adjustable, from the magnification curve to the corner radius and the background blur strength.

The status strip along the top is the piece people underestimate. It carries the clock, the volume and network controls, a search field, and a set of plugin slots for weather, resource meters, and media playback. Combined with hiding the original taskbar, the desktop ends up with far less permanent clutter than the stock arrangement.

There are also window management additions, including a switcher that shows live previews, hot corners for revealing the desktop or tiling windows, and a full screen application overview. Installation

How to install it

Extract the archive to a folder you intend to keep, since the program runs from where it is placed.
Run the executable as administrator so it can attach to the shell and hide the original taskbar.
Add the folder to your antivirus exclusion list, because shell hooks are flagged on sight by most scanners.
Enable the automatic start entry from the settings panel if you want the dock to survive a reboot.
Keep a shortcut to the settings panel, since restoring the original taskbar is done from inside the program.

Before you start

Does it replace the taskbar permanently?

No. It hides the taskbar while running and restores it when the program is closed or disabled from the settings panel.

Is it heavy on resources?

The dock is light. The blur effect is the expensive part and can be reduced or turned off on weaker hardware.

Does it work across multiple monitors?

Yes, with an independent dock available on each display.

Will a Windows update break it?

Occasionally a shell change requires an updated build. Disabling the automatic start entry is the fastest recovery if that happens.
