WinPE 11-10-8 Sergei Strelec

The maintenance environment that most technicians keep on a stick, booting into a full preinstallation desktop with imaging, partitioning, recovery, password, and diagnostic tools already installed.

Version 2026.07.09 5.12 GB Bootable ISO / USB (32-bit and 64-bit) Updated 2 days ago

Overview

What this release is

This is the maintenance stick that ends up in most technicians' bags, and it stays there because it boots on almost anything and carries almost everything. Three preinstallation environments are on the image, covering the Windows 11, 10, and 8 bases, so if one refuses to start on unusual hardware another one generally will.

The imaging section is the strongest part. Every major backup and cloning tool is present, so an image made with one product can be restored even when that product is not installed anywhere. Being able to restore a backup regardless of what created it is the single most useful property a rescue environment can have.

Partitioning covers the graphical managers plus boot record repair, partition table reconstruction, and boot configuration rebuilding. A machine that stops booting after a partition change is usually back within a few minutes, without touching the data.

Recovery tools handle both the file level and the disk level. Deleted file recovery for the simple cases, raw carving for when the file table is gone, and sector level cloning with bad sector handling so a failing drive gets captured before it deteriorates further. There is also offline password reset, registry editing against an installed system, and driver backup so a machine can be rebuilt with its own drivers.

The rest is the usual technician set: memory testing, storage health reporting, temperature monitoring, benchmarking, network tools with a browser, several offline virus scanners, and a full file manager that can reach any partition. Everything runs from the stick with no installation to the machine.

Feature set

What you get

Three environments

Windows 11, 10, and 8 based preinstallation environments on one image, so awkward hardware still boots into something.

Every imaging tool

All the major backup and cloning products included, so a backup restores regardless of what made it.

Partition and boot repair

Graphical partition managers plus boot record, partition table, and boot configuration repair.

Data recovery

File recovery, raw carving, and sector level cloning that skips bad sectors instead of stalling.

Offline system access

Password reset, registry editing, and driver backup against the installed system from outside it.

Hardware diagnostics

Memory testing, drive health reporting, thermal monitoring, and benchmarking to separate failing hardware from a broken install.

Changes in this build

What changed

  • Environment bases rebuilt on current servicing branches with a wider driver set
  • Added support for recent NVMe and RAID controllers the previous build could not enumerate
  • Imaging and partitioning tools updated to their current releases across the whole image
  • Network stack updated with drivers for recent wired and wireless adapters
  • Fixed the boot menu failure on machines with very large drives attached over USB

Installation

How to install it

  1. Write the image to a USB stick of 8 GB or larger with a tool that creates both UEFI and legacy boot entries.
  2. Alternatively add it to an existing multi boot stick using the included boot files.
  3. Boot the machine from the stick using the one time boot menu rather than changing the firmware order permanently.
  4. Choose the environment that matches the machine from the first menu, starting with the newest base.
  5. If a tool refuses to see a drive, reboot into one of the other environments before assuming the drive has failed.

Questions

Before you start

Why are there three environments?

Different bases carry different driver models. If one refuses to start or cannot see a controller, another usually can.

Does it write anything to the machine?

No, unless you run a tool that deliberately writes. The environment itself loads into memory and leaves the disk alone.

Can it restore a backup made by any program?

If the program that made it is on the image, and most of them are. That is the main reason to carry it.

Will it boot with secure boot enabled?

Often, but not always. Turn secure boot off for the session if the stick is not offered as a boot option.
