What this release is

The distinction that matters here is symbolic against numeric. Most technical software approximates. Ask this environment to integrate an expression and it returns the closed form, differentiates it correctly, simplifies it, and will happily keep the whole thing exact through a chain of twenty operations before you ask for a number at the end. That is a different kind of tool from a calculator with a plotting library.

The notebook interface is the other half of the argument. Text, live code, output, and interactive controls sit in the same document, so a piece of analysis reads as an explanation with working results embedded in it rather than a script and a separate write up that has already drifted out of sync. Manipulate wraps any expression in live sliders with a single function call.

Coverage is unusually broad for one environment. Calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, number theory, statistics, optimisation, graph theory, signal and image processing, and machine learning are all in the same language with consistent naming, so moving between fields does not mean learning a new package convention every time.

Visualisation is built in rather than borrowed. Installation

How to install it

Disable real time protection before extracting the multi part archive.
Extract every part to the same folder and run setup as administrator.
Install the local documentation when offered, since fetching it later requires a connection.
Apply the included activation step before the first launch and do not sign in when the program opens.
Block outbound access for the executable so the licence state is not checked during use.
